The flashlight on your phone is a very useful tool. But
sometimes, you wish there was a way you could use the backlight for prolonged
periods of time. Unfortunately, the backlight will go off at most after only 30
minutes on most phones.
Here is a simple way that you could use to keep the back-light on for hours on end, or until the battery dies. This procedure is power intensive. However, it is very valuable in times when you want your backlight to stay on without any interruptions.
1. Download MX Player
On your android phone, go the play store and search for a
video player app called MX player. I
highly recommend this app because you can also use it for a variety of other
uses. For instance, you can use it to play videos which will not open on the
default android video player. These include videos with extensions like .dat
and .mts.
The app can also play videos from a whole folder back to
back. It also has other amazing features like video zoom.
2. Find a Short Video of Your Liking
Capture a short video preferably of a white or black
surface. If the area you are recording is colored, your phone will produce
colored light. Either way, you can use any video you like. If you later find
any issues with the video, you can use or record another one.
3. Open the Video on MX Player
By default, MX player will show you all media folders once
you open it. Tap on the folder with the video you wish to use. Locate the video
and open it.
4. Set the Player to “Repeat One”
As the video plays, tap anywhere inside the video window. On
the top-right corner, tap on the icon that looks like 3 vertical dots. Select
‘play’ and check ‘loop one’.
5. Set the Sound and Lighting to Your Taste
Swipe up and down on the left hand side of the video window
to adjust light. On the right side, slide up to increase the volume, and down
to reduce or mute.
You are now all set. Your video will keep on looping over and over again until you wish to stop it. If you find that the video you are
using is too dark or too light, you can always switch on to another one.
Use this strategy in places where a dimmer light is more
suitable. Ideal situations include stargazing, bedroom chats and so forth. You
can let the phone sit on its back or on the side, depending on which is more
appropriate.
